Asthma is a disease affecting the airways that carry air to and from lungs. People who suffer from this chronic condition are said to be asthmatic. WHAT IS ASTHMA?
Asthma is caused by inflamation of the airways. Small tubes called bronchi, which carry air in and out of the lungs will be inflamed and more sensitive than normal. When person comes in contact with something that irritates lungs, known as trigger, airways become narrow, the muscle around then tighten, and there is an increase in production of sticky mucus or phlegm, which leads to difficulty breathing, wheezing, cough, tight chest.
